J. Crew Jewelry Crush

I have always loved J. Crew and J. Crew Factory jewelry.  I really think that most of the time, they have a corner on fresh, cute jewelry that's also excellent quality.  And although I do have a few pieces from Kate Spade (another favorite), Lilly Pulitzer, and random places like TJ Maxx, I think most of my collection is from J. Crew over the years.

This spring, they've really outdone themselves I think!  I absolutely adore feminine and floral pieces, and their statement necklaces are just gorgeous!  I picked up the J. Crew Factory sequin necklace in the top right to wear to a wedding coming up in May.

What are your favorite jewelry pieces?

After my residency/fellowship, I took a look at my wardrobe and decided it needed a major overhaul. I did a major purge of my wardrobe and donated a huge black bag full of clothes and shoes, and picked out many items to sell on Ebay.  I realized that I had just been hanging on to a lot of things but not wearing them, or they did 't fit well anymore and I hadn't realized it because I was in scrubs all the time.  I felt so good purging, but then realized I would need a few things to fill the gaps of what I had gotten rid of or worn out.  And I desperately wanted a few new light and airy things for spring.  I finally know my hours with my new staff position, which thankfully leave a few days a week to wear "normal clothes" and not scrubs, and I'm so excited about that prospect!

What are your favorites for spring?

Maevn Uniforms + Giveaway!

Scrubs above c/o: maevn EON Style

Scrubs Above c/o: maevn EON Active// Stethoscope: Littmann Cardiology III//Shoes: Dansko

Today is an exciting day, because I get to rave to all of you medical or medical-to-be friends about scrubs that I absolutely LOVE.  I have NEVER had good experiences finding scrubs.  I am 5' 9.5" with a 33-34 inch inseam, but otherwise fit an XS.  Whenever I would order scrubs, they had to be special-order, and only came in a basic straight-leg pant.  When I tried to wear hospital scrubs, XS usually came to mid-calf.  Or if I tried to size up, I could get some more length, but the waist was sinched in so much it looked bulky and odd OR the crotch was so low it was beyond ridiculous.  #tallgirlproblems

Until recently, I had never tried or even heard of Maevn scrubs.  Well friends, now I have... and I'm really not joking when I say I'm in love with these scrubs.  They actually fit me!  I simply chose the tall option, but could still get them in the XS size!

Maevn also has a new collection with both of the styles above: the EON and the EON active (You can view more online HERE).  What is awesome about these scrubs is that they are the first and ONLY scrubs made of CoolMax Everyday Fabric which is pretty much like wearing breathable athletic clothes at work.  Which, when you work in emergency medicine is completely necessary!  The fabric keeps you cool, dry, and comfortable, while allowing you to do what you need to do without worrying about sweating up a storm (or showing it in embarrassing ways!).  The fabric is super soft and super easy to care for, and they promise excellent washfast/colorfast performance.

Of the two styles (EON in first pictures, EON Active in later pictures), my favorite was probably the EON Active, just because I liked the mesh breathability so much.  However, I really like the cargo pant EON style because of all the pockets and loop in the front.  In emergency medicine, you can never have enough pockets or places to clip things!

Since I just started my new staff position this week, I'm excited to wear these scrubs, and for once, feel cute and comfortable!  I honestly have never had scrubs that fit so perfectly before!  And for the best part, Maevn is offering a giveaway of a pair of the new EON collection scrubs for you- your choice in color, size, and style!  I know several of you out there are pursuing medicine or interested in pursuing medicine, and here's your chance to get a pair of quality scrubs for work, clinicals, shadowing, or volunteering.  Or even to tuck away for dreams to unfold later.  You'll LOVE them, of that I guarantee!  I'm planning on ordering more soon.

Life Lately

Oh what a week!  I spent my last week of "vacation" in bed with after an unexpected procedure, taking antibiotics, and trying to ward off side effects from the meds.  Ick.  However, tomorrow I start orientation for my new staff position and I am so excited!

Aside from the unexpected unhappy events of this last week, I have had a few little splashes of joy recently, and have also been attempting to use my camera more (and actually learn how to use it!).

~I ADORE Harney & Sons tea, so I decided to try this Royal Palace Tea.  It's a black tea with a hint of citrus, and I like it with a bit of milk and sugar!  The tin is too adorable too!
~I did some spring clothes shopping and came away with this gorgeous necklace and too-cute-for-words pastry printed flowy top.  I mean, really?  How cute!
~The grape hyacinths are coming out all around me and I couldn't be happier for signs of spring.
~I found this British Flora book for a little over a dollar on Amazon, and because I love old-fashioned botanical illustrations, thought it was a no-brainer!  Isn't it beautiful?
~There's nothing like donuts to make one feel better.  Never fails!

Be on the look-out or an upcoming post about some pretty amazingly comfortable (and cute!) scrubs and a giveaway!
