Favorite Lip Products for Spring

Every Spring, I feel the need to spice up my makeup routine a little bit.  Just like with my winter wardrobe, the winter weather, and the winter landscape, I start feeling like it's all a bit "drab," and I need something bright and happy in my life!  I recently picked out a few favorite lip products to add a spark to my spring makeup routine!  YSL are my all-time favorite lip products, and I have several, but the above are my favorites.  I will layer the nude gloss over any of my lipsticks, and the oil lip glosses are THE BEST.  They smell amazing, and add a non-sticky colored gloss with lasting color, even after the gloss has worn off.  I also picked up two Lancome lip products, and was so pleasantly surprised!  And as I posted before, I really love the pH sensitive lipstick from Flirt Cosmetics because the green color changes into the perfect magenta pink for your skin tone!

What are your favorite lip products?  Do tell!  I'm always interested in trying new ones!

Encouragement

Hello Friends!

I am overdue with a post for sure.  And long overdue with an encouragement post.

This year, 2017, has started out in a way that I hadn't counted on.  My previously planned out path of life just wasn't seeming to unfold the way I had envisioned.  And God pretty much plucked me out of my own carefully-constructed plan, and said, "wait, I have something better."  The problem is, I haven't been quite sure what His plan was.  I knew He had one.  I had faith that there was one, even though some days, that faith seemed to be a bit more shaky than others.  And honestly, there's nothing more difficult for a Type A, planner personality, than NOT having a plan.  Over the last few months, I told God, I was trusting Him.  I told Him I didn't need to know ALL the plan, but asked that He just give me a little hope and light along the way.  And He has.  Little by little.  The plan is not "perfected" yet.  And I still don't know the "ending" of His plan.  But I'm watching Him work.  And He has shown me bits of the plan, just enough, to keep moving forward.

I've claimed this verse in the last several weeks as my own- as a promise of hope and a future.
"Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be the glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations forever and ever." Ephesians 3:21

Powerful stuff, huh?  Imagine that for a minute.  Immeasurably MORE than all we could even ask or imagine?  What a promise!  That means that even more than what our brains can conjure up, more than the plans we can make, more than the ideals and expectations we set: HE can do more.

As Lysa Terkeurst of Proverbs 31 Ministries so aptly put it:  "God loves us too much to answer our prayer at any other time than the right time."  And I have to believe that He will also answer that prayer in a way that, if we can trust Him to that extent, will blow away our previous dreams with their perfection and beauty.  For all good things come from Him.

I'm realizing, sometimes God has to literally pluck us out of our own focus, our own plan, our own dream, to broaden our perspective and provide something even better than we could ask or imagine.

So friends, don't give up hope.  Ask God to give you hope, and assurance of a plan.  And ask for the faith and the patience to wait on His perfect timing.  Because His dreams for us are so much better than the ones we have for ourselves.

Flirt Cosmetics Lip pHetish Lipstick

FLIRT  lip pHetish Lipstick c/o // Notebook: Kate Spade

Ever since I was a pre-teen, I've always loved collecting lip products.  Although my interests have changed significantly in that area since I was twelve (who remembers the Lip Smackers and way-over-glittery glosses in the kid cosmetics aisle?!), I still find a good lip product incredibly fun.  Since I wear scrubs all day long, my "girly girl" comes out in my jewelry and makeup.  Flirt Cosmetics sent me these adorable, fun, yet totally-wearable lipsticks to try out!  When I first opened them, I was a bit dubious... green?  blue?  How on earth is this going to look good on me?  However, these lip colors instantly morph into beautiful shades of pink, coral, and berry based on the pH in your lips.  And as a medical professional, I also found that kind of fascinating (nerd alert).  My favorite of the three is actually the green which is shown in the picture above: it turned into a beautiful bright pink that made me excited for spring!  Check them out HERE.
