Dressing For The Young Professional: Pink & Green

Oooohhh how I love this outfit!  Remember those green shorts that I never really wore much and finally styled a few weeks ago?  They're baaccckk! :)  I love this incredibly sunny and summery outfit!  I really love yellow, green, and pink together because they just epitomize summer!  Here's how I styled those green shorts once again:

What do you think of these colors together?  BTW: check out your local TJ Maxx... I found some Lilly Pulitzer items there for a steal!  I bought this adorable Koozie in my favorite print for $3!  It matches my planner :)

Also, after a year of having my sweet baby kitty and not finding any really cute collars, I FINALLY found some cute and girly ones at PetSmart! I couldn't stand the collars that had glitter and skull and crossbones all over them. Ugh.  So Lexie got some spoiling.  I can't believe I've had her for a year.  She has made my life so much better!  She's my baby! :)

Doesn't she look adorable in her preppy little bow collar? :)

Hope you have a bright and cheery day!

A Dress Fit for the Seas

So I went to Target about a month ago and saw this ADORABLE seahorse high-low dress and swooned.  But then I wasn't sure I wanted to pay full-price for it either (I was getting such amazing deals at J.Crew and Banana Republic that I was ruined for anything else! haha!).  So, I let it go.  Then last weekend, I went back, and it was on sale for $15!!! So I grabbed it and ran :).  I don't usually like the high-low look, but I LOVE it with this dress!  It has a classic cut and is so versatile.  I can pair it with a statement necklace or some nautical accessories and either dress it up with heels for work or sandals for some down-time. I just adore it!  And if you haven't gathered by now, I'm a huge sucker for the nautical look!

Dressing for the Young Professional: Green Shorts For Lazy Days

You know that item you've had in your closet forever and just really never worn?  Well I was browsing my closet the other day and in my very small collection of shorts (and by small, I mean like four pairs- I am NOT a shorts-wearer apparently), I pulled out this green pair from Banana Republic Factory from ages ago.  I really like the color, but just never came up with a good way to wear them.  I decided it was time, and pulled out a few different looks.  I've recently discovered that light long sleeved shirts can actually work great during the summer if you just roll up the sleeves (btw, there's a guide floating around on Pinterest about rolling sleeves like the J. Crew store).  I really like these outfits and am now putting my green shirts to good use!

Dressing for the Young Professional: Black Skimmer Pants

I've become obsessed with J. Crew cafe capri and skimmer pants, because being as tall as I am, I have a hard time finding pants that are long enough.  And well, when they're cropped, you don't have to worry about that! :)  I bought my first pair of black skimmer pants awhile ago, and they are really perfect for work.  I styled them with my new favorite LOFT lace shirt and blush J. Crew belt and switched up the look with a different necklace.  Classic with a fun twist!

Hope you all have good week!  I'm busy writing a paper, studying surgery, and seeing patients!

A Little Bit of Yellow

When I was at Banana Republic a couple of weeks ago, I took advantage of their extra 40% of sale items and bought this gorgeous yellow bracelet that I've been drooling over for awhile.  And while looking around the store, I snatched up this adorable yellow damask pencil skirt and guess how much it was? $12!!!

I, my friends, am nothing if not a deal-hunter.  It runs in the family. ;)

As I headed to the dressing room with bracelet and skirt in hand, I noticed how gorgeous they looked together.  So this past weekend, I put together a lovely little outfit for church with my new finds and an old, but favorite blouse and pair of white pumps.

The style I always like to emulate is a cross between Audrey Hepburn and Jackie O.  I thought this outfit was especially fitting to that era!

Mid-Summer Professional Style

Hello friends!

I'm back for another post... and hopefully will be more regular in posting from now on! Fingers crossed anyway!  :)  So I'm not sure about you, but the recent 4th of July sales were AMAZING and I found some brilliant new finds to add to my wardrobe.  J. Crew and Banana Republic have been very good to me lately with their amazing sales (plus student discounts!).  So of course, I have to share with you!

Also, I've been thinking about something lately.  I have always loved classic styles.  I've never been one for really trendy clothes that quickly come and go, and I have always gravitated towards stores that carry more classic pieces (hence my love affair with J. Crew, Banana Republic, Tommy, and Ralph Lauren, and even random finds from TJ Maxx and such). In fact, I still have a number of dresses from high school that I love every bit as much now as I did then- and that was awhile ago now!  They are classic and I have definitely gotten my wear out of them and will continue to do so.

Anyway, I had an interesting conversation with someone the other day that basically got me thinking that classy and elegant style isn't really prevalent anymore.  I'm a huge fan of lady-like manners and classy, elegant style, and unfortunately, that doesn't seem to be the "norm" these days.  So I'm going to start up some posts dedicated not only to professional style (as I mentioned before), but just to classy, elegance in general.  I am at the stage in life where I am pursuing all things professional, and I hope that my day-to-day wear reflects that.  Fashion is also my creative outlet, and I thoroughly enjoy planning outfits! I hope you'll join me on this endeavor!

So back to my J. Crew sale finds... I found an absolutely adorable belt that is sort of a blush pink color which with the extra 40% off sale plus my 15% discount, came down to $7.  Yeppers... you heard that right.  I can't wait to style it with my cropped pants for work!  I also found an adorable pocket mirror in one of the recent Liberty of London for J. Crew prints, and quickly snatched it up.  It's SOOOO cute and I adore the bird print.  It came down to $3! I was so thrilled.  And last, but definitely not least, I picked up a top I have been eyeing since it came out in late spring/early summer.  The thistle print pop-over in those gorgeous blues was a definite steal and came down to $20 with all the discounts.  Can't beat that!  Unfortunately online it is still $68, so shopping in-store definitely has its perks.

Anyway! I put together a good mid-summer professional outfit with my new top, and can't wait to wear it later this week.  With the insane heat we've been having, it's a good way keep it comfortable but classy!

Well friends! I hope you all have a wonderful week.  I will be pretty busy with working as usual, but boy, am I ever grateful to have a chance to wear normal clothes again and actually be able to sleep and eat on a normal schedule. :)

Cheers!
